Westland mayor presents three-year balanced budget

Westland Mayor William Wild presented the proposed $58.6 million general fund budget to council at a study session Monday - a day before the charter required April 1 deadline. 

Along with the 2014-15 budget which would begin July 1, Wild also provided proposed balanced budgets for the 2015-16 and 2016-17 fiscal years.

The proposed 2014-15 budget includes line items for a parks and recreation director along with the DPS director. Deputy Mayor Jade Smith has been overseeing parks programs for Westland since Westland and Wayne combined their parks and recreation departments.
