The Macally Leather Case and Stand for the iPad mini is a super protective case that covers the entire tablet. It combines faux leather, soft lining and hard plastic inserts to provide solid protection against scratches, nicks, bumps and even shock damage. The case offers easy access to all ports and buttons and it comes in three colors, black, navy blue and salmon pink.The Macally Leather Case and Stand certainly has its own style that looks like out of Indiana Jones world. The case comes in portfolio style though it has a saddle style tab as closure. The case has a tablet holder on the right and you can snap your iPad mini into the holder. It's easy to put the tablet in but it takes a bit of finesse to take it out. The case has a hard plastic shell with faux leather exterior and soft micro fiber interior covering most of the shell. The exterior feels soft and not slippery at all, and the interior is super soft and won't scratch your iPad mini's surface. The hard shell covers the corners and sides of the tablet, providing very good shock protection. The front cover is also reinforced with hard inserts, and the closure tab matches the color of the plastic holder.
The Macally Leather Case and Stand has its unique style with the faux leather exterior and the saddle style closure. While the case is very protective, it does quite a bit of bulk as the front cover doesn't shut very tightly since the closure has either magnet nor snap. The two tone combos work well in all three color options. The Macally Leather Case and Stand for the iPad mini has tapped cutouts aligned with the buttons and ports perfectly. The case has a long cutout on the side to give you access to the volume button and multi-function button, three cutouts on top to give you access to the power button, top mic and the audio jack. The Macally has a long button cutout that leaves out the speaker grill, mic and the Lightening port. The rear camera cutout centers around the lens and give it room to have a full view.
The front cover of the Macally Leather Case and Stand works like a built-in stand. You can put your iPad mini in either multimedia viewing angle or a flatter typing on the on-screen keyboard angle. The stand fees steady and stable when holding up the tablet even when you're typing on the screen. The Macally Leather Case and Stand provides very good protection for the entire tablet. It has perfect cutouts to give you access to buttons and ports and it offers a built in stand. We like the color options, and for those with a taste for an old world style, this case should attract your attention. It does however add some bulk to your slim tablet and 4.4 ounces to the weight.
