The new evidence from Cassini revealed that the lake on Titan

Later in March, Cassini returned evidence that stress fractures on the moon Enceladus are caused by the moon's interaction with Saturn. This information allowed scientists to correlate the icy jets of water vapor from fissures on Enceladus's surface with the way Saturn's gravity stresses and stretches the fissures. The observations of the stress fissures provided more evidence for a large,They can totally cover the back of your jaw crusher plant and the sides, or they can cover parts of your phone back but still offer the same level of protection. It can even reach around $ 40. subterranean body of liquid water that would be necessary to allow Enceladus to flex enough to generate stress great enough to deform the surface of the moon. The crusher spares are one of the most required shanbaochina which are required for the crushers. These are highly effective mechanical devices which are usually required in almost all construction avenues. The initial cost of these light sets may be higher than other forms of solar mounting. However, you will soon see that the price is cancelled out by all the money you save on energy costs over time.Even if regular lights only cost you a few dollars a month toward your electric bill, that would eventually add up to be more than you paid for the solar lights in the beginning.By late April, Cassini had returned evidence that revealed a striking similarity between a lake on Titan and a mudflat in Namibia. The new evidence from Cassini revealed that the lake on Titan could in fact be a depression that drains and refills from below its surface and not be completely filled with liquid hydrocarbons as originally thought.
This would correspond to the way that the Etosha salt pan on Earth fills from a shallow layer of groundwater that rises during the rainy season and then drains and leaves sediment-like tidemarks showing the previous extent of the water level.According to project scientist Nicolas Altobelli from the European Space Agency, "These results emphasize the importance of comparative planetology and modern planetary sciences: finding familiar geological features on alien worlds like Titan allows us to test the theories explaining their formation" as we see them on Earth. Also in April, Cassini aided scientists in their understanding of how the F ring of Saturn behaves.Previously, abnormalities had been seen in the behavior of the F ring. This, thanks to new information from Cassini, is now understood to be caused in part by strange, half-mile sized objects punching through part of the F ring,Solar chargers are rising in popularity owe to our dependence on high tech gadgets from China Solar Mp3 player and charger Offers to portables to portable audio and video devices to digital cameras. leaving glittering trails behind them.
The small objects appear to collide with the F ring at gentle speeds in collisions that drag glittering ice particles out of the ring with them, leaving a trail 20 to 100 miles long. The information from Cassini revealed that these objects are in part responsible for the eddies that ripple around the ring – thus aiding the understanding of how these eddies are formed.Furthermore, Cassini returned even more evidence in April regarding another of Saturn's prominent features, its moon Phoebe.During recent observations, Phoebe was found to be more planet-like than originally thought. Based on Cassini observations, it is now believed that Phoebe is a planetesimal whose development was arrested billions of years ago and that the moon is actually a Kuiper Belt Object, the same region where Pluto currently resides. The Brunton Solar Chargers work best with China Solar radio and charger Wholesalers and smaller gizmos. Light Powers Levitating Magnets

Magnetic levitation is old hat these days, with maglev trains operating in China and planned systems taking shape in other countries. But they run by manipulating the train, which is "floating" on a magnetic field, with electricity. Now a team of researchers in Japan have found a way to manipulate magnetically levitating objects using light. The technique could lead to new forms of powered maglev transportation systems and could make solar-powered generators more efficient. To make the levitating graphite device, Masayuki Kobayashi and professor Jiro Abe of Aoyama Gakuin University in Kanagawa arranged a set of magnets made of neodymium, iron and boron in a grid. They then put a piece of graphite on top of the grid. When exposed to an external magnetic field, graphite -- specifically an artificial type called pyrolitic graphite -- generates its own field that repels the external one, a property called diamagnetism. That makes graphite levitate when it's placed on top of permanent magnets. The Brunton Solar Chargers work best with China Solar radio and charger Wholesalers and smaller gizmos. It even works alongside portable solar cells.Sunsei chargers change solar energy to electricity which recharges batteries.
The researchers then hit the graphite with a laser. The laser heated up part of the graphite and changed its susceptibility to the surrounding magnetic field. Hitting the graphite in the center made it sink,They can totally cover the back of your jaw crusher plant and the sides, or they can cover parts of your phone back but still offer the same level of protection. It can even reach around $ 40. as the heating was more even. Aiming the laser at the edge made it move in the direction of the beam. The initial cost of these light sets may be higher than other forms of solar mounting. However, you will soon see that the price is cancelled out by all the money you save on energy costs over time.Even if regular lights only cost you a few dollars a month toward your electric bill, that would eventually add up to be more than you paid for the solar lights in the beginning.Next, they put the graphite on top of a tower of cylindrical magnets and hit the edge of it with the laser beam. The result was a little graphite disc spinning at up to 200 rpm when it was exposed to the laser -- or sunlight. The researchers published the results of their study in the Journal of the American Chemical Society.Being able to generate useful mechanical motion this way could change the way solar power setups are made. A spinning disk could run a generator directly rather than extracting the energy in several steps such as converting the DC current from a photovoltaic cell or using solar power to make steam.
Naughty Dog, moving beyond the "Crash Bandicoot" series it had established on the PS One system, created "Jak and Daxter,The crusher spares are one of the most required shanbaochina which are required for the crushers. These are highly effective mechanical devices which are usually required in almost all construction avenues." a gorgeous platforming adventure series featuring an unlikely duo — an adventurous hero and his wisecracking animal partner. Not to be outdone, Sucker Punch Productions introduced its own cartoon-like action series under the name "Sly Cooper," focusing on a likable raccoon thief and his "crew" (consisting of a genius turtle and a bumbling hippo getaway driver). The PlayStation 2 was also the place to find several big-name sequels. Polyphony Digital's "Gran Turismo" racing series became more life-like than ever before, with exquisite visuals and realistic gameplay that made you feel like you were really behind the wheel. Get More Life Out Of Your iPods Battery

Rechargeable lithium-based batteries power most of our electronic devices from cell phones to iBooks, not to mention the very popular iPods. But with so much demand of these electronic devices that use this type of battery, does any one really take the time to find out how to maximize the life of these batteries? You take the time to buy these electronic devices every day and take the time to learn how to properly use them. But do you actually take the time to learn how to properly make the life of the battery work as long as you can before you have to break down and buy a replacement battery? In addition, as everyone knows, most of these rechargeable china cheap mobile supplier are not cheap. It is actually more economical to learn right from the beginning the proper steps in extending the life of the battery.
Some of the first models of iPods that were introduced did not have a battery pack that could easily be replaced by the consumer. It came with an enclosed battery pack that made it only possible to open by virtually breaking your iPod. Many other iPod knock offs also had similar enclosed battery packs. With this being a problem for some consumers, Apple, the maker of the iPod, would not even consider replacing these worn out batteries. Apple believed that the consumer should buy either a brand new iPod or a used one. This is where third-party battery replacement kits hit the market. China Smart Phone suppliers, being competitive as they usually are, decides to announce a program that would replace worn out batteries. But, of course, with all the third party competition out there that are selling these battery replacement kits, this makes it very possible for the consumer to not only find new replacement batteries, but to also find it cheaper than they would through Apple. This is not to mention the fact that it would have more capacity than the standard battery that Apple originally came with.
When extending the life of your iPod batteries consider the following. First of all, you want to make sure that the most current iPod software is being used. You want to only use the hold switch and make sure to keep it at room temperature. In addition, you want to make sure that your hold switch is set on your iPod and the remote when it is not in use. So, if any of the buttons are accidentally bumped if its in your pocket or a bag, it will not come on.One of the biggest issues is keeping your iPod at room temperature as much as possible. If, for some reason, it ever gets left out in the cold, make sure it is completely warmed up first before turning it back on. Also, if you find that your iPod still will not come on, plug it into power adaptor and press the menu button and play/pause button until the Apple logo appears onto the screen.

Apple moving up next-gen iPad mini production, release date still unknown

Component makers for the second-generation iPad mini are supposedly preparing for an earlier-than-expected time to market, says one analyst, though the exact timeframe is in question as Apple has yet to complete the global rollout of the first-generation model.According to a research note from RBC Capital Markets analyst Doug Freedman, who is in China visiting supply chain sources, chipmakers are already making preparations for the second-generation iPad mini, reports CNET's Brooke Crothers."iPad Mini Gen-2: Apple's gen-2 iPad mini is getting pulled-in, and is likely to have several new suppliers, with TXN gaining content," Freedman wrote.
Crothers believes the term "pulled-in" implies that Apple may be moving up its production schedule for the mid-size tablet, but notes the information is of little use as no rumors have surfaced pertaining to the next-gen mini's release. It appears that Texas Instruments, referred to as "TXN" in Freedman's note, will build on its already important presence as a component supplier for future iDevice products. It remains unclear what "new suppliers" will be added to the roster, though Apple has reportedly been looking for ways to diversify the supply of crucial internal components away from rival Samsung. The report comes on the heels of a separate rumor that claimed Apple will be focusing its efforts on bumping the next-gen iPad mini's screen resolution to be more in line with current Retina display offerings like the fourth-generation iPad and iPhone 5.
Apple is still in the midst of completing a worldwide rollout, most recently debuting the 7.9-inch tablet to the Chinese market at the start of December. It was reported on Tuesday that the Chinese Telecommunication Equipment Certification Center granted network licenses for cellular-enabled versions of the iPad mini, with the units though to be launching soon through Apple partner carriers China Unicom and China Telecom. Naturally, the iPad Mini uses the latest version of Apple's iOS software, iOS 6. In terms of new features this is something of an underwhelming release, although the perks which have previously made iOS a rewarding platform to use remain consistent – it's stable and reliable, well-optimised with slick performance and it's well-catered for in terms of content with over 700,000 apps available. The Nook HD runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) but it's not as we know it. Following in Amazon's footsteps with the Kindle Fire, Barnes & Noble has added its own custom interface overlay which ensures you won't see so much as a sliver of Google's stuff. The interface is clean and reasonably intuitive, and it is of course focused towards giving you quick access to your Barnes & Noble purchased content, a task which it performs quite well. The only real issue here is that you don't have access to the Google Play store, which means that you're quite limited in the range of app and game content you can get hold of.

The Ultimate Creation of an iPhone Case

The late iPhone founder Steve Jobs has done an amazing job with the creation of such a wonderful gadget in the iPhone, so much so that it has become an integral part in almost everyone's life. With this and other similar concepts such as iPads and iPods dominating the world today, there is a necessity for casings and covers to protect them from external damage. You now have the flexibility to create your own iPhone case from the comfort of your home or at work, and all of this can be done with a few clicks on your mouse.
The first thing an iPhone user like yourself would need to do would be to gage the kind of protective case you would like to use for your phone. Your purchase of a customized iPhone cover has to be something that is practical for you, apart from providing your smart phone with protection from being dropped, which could lead to a shattered screen. There are two main kinds of custom iPhone cases available, the first of which is a flip cover that covers the iPhone almost entirely, with the exception for the main buttons like the volume keys and lock key. This cover provides the best form of protection and one need not worry about damages onto the phone itself. It may however be cumbersome to flip open the cover every single time a samsung case needs to be answered, or to send out texts and emails.  The second type of iPhone covers consists of a cover that gives its user access to the main screen of the iPhone, but covers the sides and back of the iPhone. This is a more comfortable option for users who do not like to fiddle with their iPhone covers and require instant access to their phones.
The next thing you would need to take note of when you create your own iPhone case would be the material which the custom iPhone cases are made up of. Metal covers provide you a better resistance towards damage, and are less pliable. There have however been instances whereby iPhone users experienced network difficulties with such custom made iPhone cases. A good alternative would be to use iphone protective cases, as they not only provide you better protection for your iPhone from falls, but are also able to give you a better grip on your phone. When you create your own iPhone case, you will notice that there are quite a number of online stores as well as shopping outlets which are able to give you a good quality casing for your iPhone. The edge that online stores have against general outlets is the capability of accepting files which could be right up to ten megabytes or more that you could upload and drag across their iPhone case application and create the ultimate personalized iPhone cover. This is one of the primary reasons why a majority of individuals prefer to create their iPhone cases online.

How to DIY Your iPhone Battery Replacement?

How to take battery out of iPhone and replace it with new iPhone battery is pretty complicated, and can be one of the scariest things you can do with a primo expensive gadget that you depend on pretty much all the way.If you really want to try it,you should at least know your way around a soldering iron as you will need it to mess around with some sensitive electronics with that hot tip.The most difficult part is how to take battery out of iPhone first, replacing the dead one merely the coup de grace.Follow the instructions below carefully and if you doubt your ability to do it properly, stop. The following steps are specific to the First and Second generation of the iPhone You will need a replacement batteries for your iPhone,a small flat screwdriver and a Phillips screwdriver,a spudger (a disassembly tool used for manipulating small components, usually made of nylon with a metal hook),a soldering iron, and a lot of care and patience.
Use the spudger to detach the LCD from the back panel by inserting it between the chrome ring and the front panel.Lift the display panel, and using the spudger release the black ribbon marked with a "1".Remember to release this black cable first to avoid shorting out the board. Proceed with disconnecting the other ribbon cables. The spudger can be used to disengage the white tab holding the cable.Remove the display panel and set aside.Remove the SIM tray by finding the small black hole near the jack for the headphones using a paperclip. This is to avoid damaging it when you open the outer cover.Find the two screws located on either side of the charging dock using the small Phillips screwdriver.Once you've removed them, you can start taking off the back cover.
Don't panic, but be careful nevertheless. The back cover may require some force and bending to remove it.Use the flat screwdriver to create a wedge between the black plastic cover and the front of the IPhone.Unless you have a plastic wedge, you'll probably do some damage to the cover.Lift up from the back and slide the case forward to release it.Carefully detach the ribbon cable that connects the case to the motherboard and set it aside to be reattached after you have replaced your battery. To remove the motherboard, you need to locate and remove eight screws with the Phillips screwdriver. One screw should be located under a warranty sticker.Lastly, detach a ribbon cable marked "4" and lift the motherboard out. There will be a ribbon connecting the board to the camera.Remove the camera from its housing in the back panel, but it will remain attached to the board.

WynCASE Might Be The First iPhone Gaming Case That Doesn't Suck

I suck at playing video games on my iPhone. Well, I suck at playing video games period, but I'm even worse on an iPhone because the lack of real buttons usually just gets me lost and confused. There are a lot of iPhone gaming cases on the market that add physical buttons to an iPhone, but most of them suck and add extra bulk to an iPhone or drain the battery. The WynCASE is the first iPhone gaming case that actually looks pretty freaking awesome because it doesn't add any accessories onto the screen, it doesn't need batteries, and it's so thin you might just decide to keep it on your iPhone even when you're not playing a game.WynCASE is a new Kickstarter project that's set to launch on December 11th at 3AM EST. The case adds four buttons on each side of your iPhone that will let you interact with games without having to actually touch the screen, making you a total iOS gaming badass – hopefully.
The case doesn't need cheap iphone4s battery case and it doesn't hookup to the iPhone's Lightning port either. WynCASE interacts with each iPhone's touchscreen by simply touching the outer edge of the screen so that it replicates human input. When you touch a button an electrical field is conducted into the touchscreen and the touchscreen recognizes it as a finger touch. The WynCASE is currently being developed for the iPhone 4/4S/5 and iPod Touch. You can donate $30 to the Kickstarter project and get a WynCASE by April 2013.Leather case: This is probably the most valuable type of iPod case. You can get adequate protection at a reasonable price by using leather case. They are also available in millions of colour and this could be the most distinct advantage, if compare to metal case However, leather may have some disadvantage is that they usually have sides that are open and unprotected, leaving your iPod vulnerable on the sides.
When your application is prepared you must send it for approval, which could take up to a week. You must make a decision if your app will be given out absolutely free or whether you will sell it off. If you want to market your application, then you should not price it over 99 cents. Wall Charger Wholesalers gets a 30% cut, so consider that into account too. If you want to give your app out for free - which is strongly suggested if you're a newbie - you then should sign up with an internet advertising network.Irrespective of how you price your app, the most important thing is that it must be enjoyable. See how Angry Birds became popular! You never know you could be having a very similar idea in mind but may be fighting shy simply because you don't know programming. So, go out there and grab a courseware that will help you learn how to make apps for the App Store and take your chance at success.

Apple has ditched its 30-pin dock connector for its new Lightning charging port

The HTC 8X scores high on design, both in hardware and software. Windows 8 is beautiful and intuitive to use for first-time smartphone buyers. For Windows 8 PC users, this handset will offer tight integration, especially with cloud services like SkyDrive, the People app, etc.But if you are looking for a phone with a great camera, this is definitely not it. What's more, since the app store doesn't compare to that of iOS or Android, buyers are always going to be one step behind. Power users will be unsatisfied with the lack of a robust notification system and proper multitasking.Overall, the 8X still falls short of comparably-priced phones like Galaxy S III and luxury mobile - and even the iPhones, including the older 4S that now falls in the same price bracket.
THE iPhone 5 is beautifully crafted and stands nearly a centimetre taller than older iPhones. This increase in height has allowed for a larger 4-inch screen and an extra fifth line of apps in the display. Besides, with this phone, Apple has ditched its 30-pin dock connector for its new Lightning charging port that's smaller, but works just as well - and it uses a nano SIM that's even smaller than a micro SIM. What's also new is that the iPhone 5 supports 4G LTE networks. Sadly, this capability won't work in India since service providers use a different radio band than the one used by Apple. 3G, however, poses no problem (in our review, we used Airtel services).
The iPhone 5's back is dominated by an aluminium plate that's flanked by reinforced glass strips at the top and bottom, making for a classylooking device. Although light, it still feels substantial to hold; and its 7.6mm profile makes it a comfortable fit in any pocket. Its touchscreen is extremely responsive to taps and swipes; text and graphics look crisp and colours are vibrant. Notably, its display is legible even in direct sunlight, arguably one of the best in smartphones. Calls are clear and 7inch tablet. Its front camera makes for sharp video calls. And its rear 8MP camera - capable of crisp snapshots and accurate colours - is possibly the fastest shooter we have seen on a handset. The web-surfing experience leaves little to be desired (if you discount the browser's lack of Flash support). iOS continues to remain an intuitive operating system, and its tight integration with the iPhone makes for a great combination; apps continue to remain this phone's USP.Photos snapped with its main camera suffer from a purple flare on the edges due to the out-of-scene light sources; annoying if you're shooting pictures with lots of lights. Panorama mode only works in vertical orientation. The new Lightning port is not compatible with the cables and connectors of any older devices (iPads, speaker docks) unless you buy an adapter.

Cell phone case also protects its owners

Cell phone owners spend money on protective cases for their phones, but, until now, these cases didn't protect the owner. A new protective case ensures the safety of the cell phone, as well as its owners. The U.S. Department of Justice said one in four college women have reported serious assault or rape during their college experience. Technology has provided new ways for individuals to stay safe. However, the new Coyote Case for iPhones provides users with some ways of avoiding dangerous situations. The Coyote Case has buttons located on both sides that are set off with deliberate and intentional pressure. Pushing these buttons will set of an alarm, send out a text with the user's current location to emergency contacts, or will perform both functions. The side button design is constructed in the root of human behavior and ergonomics. Studies in behavioral research show that when under stress, the natural response is for the human hand to make a clenching motion.
The creator Jonathan Page made the device after he heard his niece was threatened one evening near her apartment. Page was unable to be interviewed because of difficulties presented due to Hurricane Sandy but commented on his inspiration for making the iPhone case in a promotional video."Her whole personality had changed, and that resonated with me,"Page said in the promotional video. "There (had to) be a solution."According to the Coyote Case website, the desire to protect future individuals from going through a similar experience is what relentlessly drove the development team to deliver a product that is intuitive, durable and built for protection.Caren Henry, the brand director for Coyote Case, said that this case is a device worth the investment.
"It can save lives," Henry said. "We believe wholeheartedly that this is a device that everyone can benefit from in terms of their own protection."Henry went on to explain that the portability aspect is what makes it such a unique product. The Coyote Case is ideal for college students because many tend to carry a phone with them almost everywhere they go. The case also delivers portable protection for outdoor scenarios such as walking, hiking, running or biking."We all like to go out and have fun, and we should be able to do so without feeling threatened," Henry said. "The reality, though, is things do happen. This case is a way to protect and empower its users."On campuses across the nation, dangerous situations can arise for any student. Lt. Arnold Lemmon of the University Police Department felt this case is a promising device, but that it should only be an addition to other safety measures.

Apple iPad Mini vs Kindle Fire HD 8.9 vs Nook HD: specs showdown

The small tablet war is heading to new territories now. From 7-inch tabs we have many devices with slightly larger displays. Apple has iPad Mini and eReader giants like Amazon and Barnes & Noble respectively tout Kindle Fire HD and Nook HD+ with displays larger than seven. Here we go ahead to compare these three products to let you pick up the best product for eReading, movie watching, web surfing and more.Apple's new small tablet runs on iOS 6. Compared to it both Kindle Fire HD and Nook HD+ are up with tailored Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Yes, that means you can run iTunes app store on iPad Mini and Play Store on Kindle Fire HD and Nook HD+ for different ipad case with keyboard.Needless to say, iPad wins when it comes to apps. Thanks to app store, iPad is the leader in number of apps. Amazon has designed too many specialized apps for multiple goals like eReading and similar purposes. B&N has somehow failed in it and so that Nook HD+ is the loser in availability of apps for diverse purposes.
The Apple mini tablet mounts a 7.9-in LED-backlit IPS LCD display with a resolution of 768 x 1024 pixels at a meager 162-ppi. The device drops the much-wanted Retina display and has lost a significant amount of sheen due to this. Kindle Fire HD is a bit larger with an 8.9-inch high definition display. It is an IPS TFT capacitive touchscreen that sports a better screen resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels at 254-ppi. The Nook HD+ is almost identical to Fire HD, but is rather smarter with a 9-inch IPS LCD display with a resolution of 1920 x 1280 pixels at 256-ppi.Going by innards, the Mini comes with 1GHz dual core Cortex-A9 CPU with Apple's new A5 chip inside. Its performance is boosted by a PowerVR SGX543MP2 GPU and 512MB RAM. china cheap mobile supplier can find 16GB, 32GB and 64GB variants of this machine. Onboard the new Kindle Fire HD, Amazon has integrated a 1.5GHz Cortex-A9 CPU with TI OMAP 4470 chip and 1GB of RAM. The device has two – 16GB and 32GB – memory versions. Nook HD+ is powered by the same setup, but it comes in 16GB only.
One important use of a small tablet is data surfing. That is why it must have a better and reliable connectivity options. Every tablet in question here comes with nice connectivity option. When it comes to iPad Mini, which comes in both cellular and Wi-Fi combo, you can see options like GPRS, EDGE, DC-HSDPA, HSDPA, HSUPA and 4G LTE for Wi-Fi/4G model only and Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, dual-band, Bluetooth 4.0 and USB 2.0. The device also shows off Apple's new 8-pin Lightning dock port.Amazon sells Kindle Fire HD with Wi-Fi only. It doesn't have a cellular model. Yet, different from its precursor, the tablet touts Bluetooth with A2DP as well as USB 2.0. The Nook HD+ offers Wi-Fi 802.11 b, g, n, USB 2.0 and HDMI for connectivity. It is easy to access high speed internet on all these machines.

Snapping the tablet and keyboard dock components is easy and reasonably secure

The charger of the ASUS VivoTab RT isn't much larger than a smartphone's and plugs into either the tablet or into the keyboard dock. The LED charging light on the keyboard dock is insanely bright. I can see it from the living room across the hall in my bedroom. Once  plugged into the keyboard dock, the twofer nature of the VivoTab RT quickly emerges. From a slick tablet you now have a sleek Ultrabook with a pretty decent QWERTY keyboard and additional 9 hours of battery life for a total of 16 (tested to be between 15-18 hours with varying settings). While the VivoTab RT as a standalone tablet feels a little delicate, it seems to be reinforced once locked into the keyboard dock. The keyboard dock doubles as a base a full (although undersized) island style QWERTY keyboard with a trackpad and adds USB port.
Snapping the tablet and keyboard dock components is easy and reasonably secure, unsnapping them can be done toggling a small lock. It isn't as cool as the use of magnets but there's a feeling of solid and mechanical reassurance when connecting both parts.Once connected and transformed, the ASUS VivoTab RT feels like a high-end netbook or a smallish Ultrabook. The beauty of this solution is that you can use it on your lap if needed or on various locations unlike the Surface that needs to have somewhere to support both the kickstand and the floppy Touch Cover. The keyboard dock is a solid and functional accessory. There's no learning curve to type on the chiclet-style keys, it adds rigidity to the tablet and it has a range of movement for tilting the screen.
These are all missing on the Microsoft Surface which expects users to learn how to type on the Touch Cover and is limited by the angle of the kickstand. The best thing about the ASUS VivoTab RT is that for the price of $599, you get both the tablet and the keyboard dock (a must-have if you are to be productive on this platform). For the same price, the Microsoft Surface gets you the tablet and the Touch Cover and not the Type Cover which is a less painful way to input text. The Microsoft Surface has its first true challenger in the ASUS VivoTab RT tablet.ASUS has produced a well-rounded, accomplished and smartly designed hybrid device that works suitably well for Windows RT. Its a great tablet and a stunning notebook solution. For the same price as a Microsoft Surface and a Touch Cover you're getting a real QWERTY keyboard, ports, 16 hours of battery life and virtually the same processor, memory and RAM as the Surface, it seems silly to even consider Microsoft's offering over the VivoTab RT.

iPhone 5 Battery Case With Apple Official Authorization is Going to Be Launched

Almost everyone these days has a smart phone and iPhone 5 is one of the most popular choices. The product the author obtained this time is an iPhone 5-battery case for the most up to date iPhone users, which not only provides firm protection for your new iPhone 5 from scratches, but features an internal battery as extra power, together with a fantastic design. When using the brilliant apple iPhone 5, for whatever one's purpose is, each user would certainly like to keep their new smart phone looking as new for as possible for as long as possible. Therefore a sufficient wholesale ipad case online is a necessity. Hundreds of styles of cases for the iPhone 5 are arriving, including synthetic and leather fabric and material. There is a wide variety of protective cases available in the marketplace; however, one problem still plagues iPhone 5 users, and that is battery life.
The battery life of the iPhone 5 has not increased from the iPhone 4, and a little from iPhone 4S. The battery life is no longer sufficient for a full day's use. Many users often complain about this disadvantage at times. That indicates an opportunity for a considerable accessories products market, battery case products specifically, aimed at iPhone 5 users. However, since Apple changed to the Lightning connector, each previous battery case will no longer be compatible with iPhone 5, whose 8-pin adapter connector is inserted a special chip. It's a patent of Apple, and while Apple will authorize and approve such companies and products, it's not proceeding at "lightning" rate. Every third party company who wants to get an official authorization (MFI certificate) from Apple will have to wait for another several months because of the shortage of capacity of Foxconn, Apple's biggest contact manufacturer in China. This reason is why until now Wholesale Tablet Keyboard for this iPhone 5 are still largely missing.
After deeply researching the accessories market for iPhones, one slick battery case possessing MFI authorization has been designed by Shenzhen Esorun Technology Limited Company, a professional digital products supplier specializing in power banks and phone accessories. They produce a product that is one of the best battery cases aimed at the iPhone 5 power case accessories market up to now not only because its Apple's official MFI certificate, but because of its multifunction design. This outstanding battery case not only supplies firm protection for new iPhone 5 from scratches and scrapes, but features a built-in 3000mAh Li-polymer battery, together with the ability to double as a fashionable and convenient holder. It looks fantastic as a battery case as well as a lovely movie player fitting. This Apple authorized accessory will triple the power of your favorite iPhone 5, meanwhile providing a stylish case with a secure frame for overall protection against unexpected marks and scrapes. The battery can be charged through a Micro USB port (normally 5-pin connector), which means users can save on the cost and use existing cable; no need to spend extra money getting a new cable.

iPad mini Case Review: Macally Leather Case and Stand for iPad mini Review

The Macally Leather Case and Stand for the iPad mini is a super protective case that covers the entire tablet. It combines faux leather, soft lining and hard plastic inserts to provide solid protection against scratches, nicks, bumps and even shock damage. The case offers easy access to all ports and buttons and it comes in three colors, black, navy blue and salmon pink. The Macally Leather Case and Stand certainly has its own style that looks like out of Indiana Jones world. The case comes in portfolio style though it has a saddle style tab as closure. The case has a tablet holder on the right and you can snap your iPad mini into the holder. It's easy to put the tablet in but it takes a bit of finesse to take it out. The case has a hard plastic shell with faux leather exterior and soft micro fiber interior covering most of the shell. The exterior feels soft and not slippery at all, and the interior is super soft and won't scratch your iPad mini's surface. The hard shell covers the corners and sides of the tablet, providing very good shock protection. The front cover is also reinforced with hard inserts, and the closure tab matches the color of the plastic holder.
The Macally Leather Case and Stand has its unique style with the faux leather exterior and the saddle style closure. While the case is very protective, it does quite a bit of bulk as the front cover doesn't shut very tightly since the closure has either magnet nor snap. The two tone combos work well in all three color options. The Macally Leather Case and Stand for the iPad mini has tapped cutouts aligned with the buttons and ports perfectly. The case has a long cutout on the side to give you access to the volume button and multi-function button, three cutouts on top to give you access to the power button, top mic and the audio jack. The Macally has a long button cutout that leaves out the speaker grill, mic and the Lightening port. The rear camera cutout centers around the lens and give it room to have a full view.
The front cover of the Macally Leather Case and Stand works like a built-in stand. You can put your iPad mini in either multimedia viewing angle or a flatter typing on the on-screen keyboard angle. The stand fees steady and stable when holding up the tablet even when you're typing on the screen. The Macally Leather Case and Stand provides very good protection for the entire tablet. It has perfect cutouts to give you access to buttons and ports and it offers a built in stand. We like the color options, and for those with a taste for an old world style, this case should attract your attention. It does however add some bulk to your slim tablet and 4.4 ounces to the weight.

Microsoft's Surface Tablet Has 'Modest' Start: Ballmer

"We've had a modest start because Surface is only available on our online retail sites and a few Microsoft stores in the United States," Ballmer was quoted as saying. The new device, which runs a limited version of Windows and Office with a thin, click-on keyboard cover, is being positioned by Microsoft as the ideal combination of PC and tablet that is good for work as well as entertainment.Ballmer also said 4 million upgrades to Windows 8 were sold in the three days following the system's launch. Asked what he thought of the re-election of U.S. President Barack Obama, Ballmer told the newspaper the $242.7 billion company would work with the cheap Universal Portable Battery and with governments around the world on issues like data privacy, immigration of qualified engineers and patent litigation.
The launch of Windows 8 has already raised the hackles of European Union regulators, who warned Microsoft not to repeat the mistake of denying consumers a choice of rival Web browsers in its new operating system, in a dispute that has already cost the software giant more than $1.3 billion in fines.Commenting on the outlook for the U.S. economy, Ballmer exhorted politicians to take action on the deficit, though he stopped short of saying whether more emphasis should be placed on spending cutbacks or tax increases."It's not about spending more or less, it's about balancing spending and Wholesale Battery Case...The elections are over, it's time to get back to work," Ballmer, who took over the day-to-day running of Microsoft from its billionaire co-founder Bill Gates just over a decade ago.
The 5 mega-pixel rear camera has a decent quality picture as well, but given the choice between my smart phone and the Excite's camera I think I would much rather use the better quality, 8 mega-pixel camera on my much smaller phone. Other than including it for the sake of having it, I'm not sure why the rear camera is even there at all. I guess it's nice to know its back there, but I don't really see myself walking around with the tablet snapping pictures. The images captured by the rear camera look decent, but just aren't on par with the standard, decent-quality smart phone. The front facing camera is much more practical, and, at 2 megapixel, it absolutely delivers in apps like Skye, Oovoo, Yahoo Messenger, and many others. The 16GB version of this of the Excite 10 can be purchased for $459.99, or you can purchase the 32 version for $529.99. I have never really seen the point of paying extra for more memory when I have SD cards all over the house that I can use to expand the memory whenever I want. It seems better to buy the cheaper version, and, when you need more memory, simply purchase an SD card if you don't already have one. A 32GB SD card can be purchased for around $25.00, so buy the 16GB Excite 10 along with an SD card of up to 64GB and Enjoy! You won't be disappointed; take it from me.

Logitech Ultrathin Keyboard Cover Review

The Ultrathin Keyboard cover is Logitech's second attempt at an iPad keyboard/case accessory. Its initial offering was in the form of the ZAGG iPad Keyboard Case that might not have been the most affordable accessory for the iPad, as it is an expensive device, but it did offer quite a bit of protection and functionality. The Ultrathin attempts to do the same, but with more style. Here's a closer look. Taking its cue from the iPad's existing SmartCover, the Ultrathin Keyboard also features a magnetic clip-to-the-side style. This makes it much easier to carry around and keep the iPad's display well protected. The Keyboard on its own weighs in at about 322g, making the whole package about 952g with the iPad 2 64GB Wi-Fi + 3G. It's not too heavy and weighs the same as some Ultrabooks. With the keyboard clipped on and shut, the package comes up to about 15mm in depth, which is still pretty slim. Like the iPad SmartCover, this keyboard case will also shut off the display automatically if you shut the lid.
The iPad nestles easily into the little slot provided for it and stays firm in both portrait and landscape modes. Like the ZAGG keypad, the chiclet keys on this membrane keyboard are neatly spaced and make for easy typing. On the right hand side of the keyboard, towards the back end, is a Bluetooth sync button, a power switch and a Micro USB port to charge the case. Unfortunately, Logitech has bundled a rather short cable with the Ultrathin, which can make charging quite difficult at times. Perhaps, Logitech could also have used rubberised edges for the keyboard, so that the entire kit, including the iPad, would stay firmly placed on a smooth surface. A small LED at the top of the keypad is used to indicate connectivity and charge.
The keypad, being as small as it is, will take a little getting used to. But after about 10 minutes of use, you'll find your way around. The best part about the keypad is the number/shortcut or function keys that include options for returning to the desktop in a single click, language selection, pulling up the onscreen keyboard, selection of text, cutting, copying and pasting, and even control for the music player and volume. There's even an option to shut down the screen and lock the device with a simple unlock feature using the function keys, without touching the screen. The membrane keypad is quite comfortable to use at long stretches, making it a versatile accessory for your iPad. The angle of display is just about right for typing and viewing. It's also a great prop stand for those times.

Acase F1 Classic Leather Case for the New iPad and iPad 2 Review

I've been using the same iPad 2 case for the longest time now only because it has been one the most convenient and slimmest cases I've used that also included a built in "smart"cover that would automatically put my iPad in wake/sleep mode. That case however has begun to show its age as regular day in and day out usage has made it look rough around the edges and the wear and tear on it is really starting to get noticeable. With that said, the folks over at Acase sent me one of their more upscale looking China Elder Phone suppliers to try out, the Acase F1 classic leather case for the iPad 2 and New iPad.
First off, the Acase F1 looks really good. It's all black on the outside, but is accented in red with the stitching and the inner lining. The entire front cover is made of real leather and has a very nice, premium feel to it. Unlike other covers that try to mimic Apple's Smart Cover design with the triple folds, the Acase F1 only has 1 fold on the right side which is used to prop of the case in various positions. I think I actually prefer the way Acase made the front cover because it doesn't flap around as much as the triple fold design. When folding the case back, it's easier to keep it folded back and it doesn't droop down like the others. It stays nice and firm. The case itself on the Acase F1 is made from hard polycarbonate which is meant to be shatter and impact resistant. The shell is about 2-3mm thick and doesn't add much bulk when snapped on. There are openings for the volume/mute switch, rear camera, top sleep/wake button, mic, audio jack, the 30-pin port, and there's even a grill for the rear speaker. The rear of the case also has a textured pattern to it that makes holding the iPad a bit easier. The Acase F1 case also functions as a multi position stand. It can elevate the iPad for a better typing position as well as being able to use it for watching movies or displaying your china mobile phone.
Belkin was the first third-party manufacturer to develop accessories for the 30-pin connector back in 2003, and we are thrilled to be first to market again with solutions for the new Lightning connector. People are eager for Lightning accessories and Belkin's give them a reliable way to keep their new iPhone 5, iPad 4th generation, iPad mini or iPod touch charged, protected, and ready to go.In October, we reported that Apple would make changes to their Made for iPad/iPhone/iPod (MFi) policies to reflect the new Lightning connector. Because of this, manufacturers will have to conform to the new rules before releasing Lightning accessories. Belkin's news suggests that this is now happening.

uNu Electronics Inc., a global provider and distributor of portable power accessories, announced today the launch of the Ecopak iPhone 5 Battery – a new eco-friendly case and power source that doubles the battery life of the latest iPhone. "Surprisingly, relatively few cell phone users recycle their old battery packs. We're addressing this gap with a high performance product that incorporates modern industrial design and a great user experience."
uNu Ecopak Recycling Program As of 2010, the Environmental Protection Agency estimated that the national recycling rate of mobile devices and electronics with rechargeable batteries was about 10 percent. To encourage consumers to recycle their old battery packs and try the new Ecopak for iPhone 5, uNu has created a program for customers to mail in old battery packs and purchase the Ecopak at a significantly reduced price.Consumers can register on the uNu Eco-Recycle Page to receive mailing instructions to send in old battery packs. Once the old battery pack is received, program participants will receive a one-time voucher to purchase the Ecopak for iPhone 5 at $19.95, regularly priced at $79.95 USD. For complete program details and product imagery.
Free iPhone 5 Case Incentive  Consumers without an old battery case to recycle can "like" uNu's Facebook page at unucases and share the Eco-Recycling page to receive a free Ecopak snap-on case for iPhone 5 (without the battery pack). For any in-duc-tion prod-uct, you'll have to use a spe-cial case, which is the on-ly ma-jor down-side. These pro-pri-etary cas-es don't of-fer much pro-tec-tion, and usu-al-ly aren't near-ly as nice as, say, an Ot-ter-Box. If you like your case- or don't like hav-ing one- then this will be an awk-ward fit at best. The case in-clud-ed here is de-cent, but noth-ing that you'd choose un-less you had to. What's un-usu-al about this one is that the 30-pin port on your iPhone 4/4S will be blocked- and in-stead con-vert-ed to a Mi-cro USB slot! It's pret-ty un-usu-al, and means that you can't use any of your oth-er Ap-ple-type docks or plugs or adapters.
All in all, it's a step in the right di-rec-tion for in-duc-tion charg-ing sys-tems. There are still down-sides- un-til man-u-fac-tur-ers start build-ing the tech-nol-o-gy in-to de-vices, you'll con-tin-ue to need spe-cial cas-es. But it looks bet-ter, and feels nicer, than pre-vi-ous mod-els. Small enough to be portable, the Du-ra-cell Pow-er-Mat 24 Hour Pow-er Sys-tem is avail-able now on-line and in stores for just un-der $100.

Google tablet targets iPad Mini

With the addition of the -iPad mini, Apple offers touchscreen devices in three sizes. Now rival Google is doing the same, introducing a 10-inch tablet, an upgraded 7-inch tablet, and a new smartphone.Introduced Monday, the Nexus 10, which Google developed with Samsung, is the company's first tablet that competes directly with Apple's 9.7-inch iPad. Most significantly, it undercuts the iPad's price: A Nexus 10 with Wi-Fi and 16 gigabytes of storage costs $400, compared with $500 for an equivalent iPad. Google did not say whether a model with cellular data would be available.Google's Nexus 4 smartphone, which it developed with LG, has a 4.7-inch screen and wireless charging capability.Google also upgraded its samsung keyboard, which was introduced this year, to include a cellular data connection which is the predecessor to the newest cell technology, 4G LTE. The model with the newest technology has 32 gigabytes of storage costs $300.
Now that Windows 8 is finally available the genuine discussions are beginning, and back on Earth Microsoft faces major challenges with Windows 8 tablets and PCs, including a mostly indifferent public. However, Windows 8 also has the potential to streamline the tablet, PC and smartphone experience in the enterprise like no other company can.To push the mobile envelope even further, Microsoft on Monday announced Windows Phone 8, an updated version of Microsoft's struggling smartphone OS that will share compatibility with Windows 8. If anything, Windows 8, Windows RT and Surface just made the increasingly competitive tablet market even more exciting, along with Apple's iPad Mini and fourth-generation cheap China Mobile last week.
Consumers and businesses now have more tablets of various shapes and sizes at their disposal from Apple, Amazon, Google and, at long last, Microsoft. All this choice is great for you and me.Microsoft now needs to beef up the Windows Store, a sparsely populated area within Windows 8 and Microsoft's Achilles' heel. Yet industry analysts say that the 9,000 apps now in the Windows Store is a sufficient amount for a launch and something to build on.
Last Friday, I was a guest on NECN (New England Cable News) to discuss these subjects and more with NECN Business host Mike Nikitas. Check it out below. The average person now has available to him or her gadgets that 18 years ago would have been considered magical, if not impossible. With only one week's worth of minimum wages in California ($8/hr), you can buy yourself an iPad mini: a device that connects you to all information in the world; that holds and displays and edits and takes thousands of videos and photos; that holds your entire music library; that lets you read millions of books; that holds and displays maps of the entire world; that lets you explore the cosmos by simply pointing at the stars at night; that lets you read hundreds of newspapers; that lets you plan and reserve flights and hotels all over the world for free.

Otterbox iPad mini Case Announced

Today Otterbox announced its new Defender Series iPad mini cases that are available for pre-order now for $69.95.The new Defender Series case for iPad mini features a hard shell that covers the back, sides, and bezel of the new 7.9-inch tablet. The case also includes a screen protector to keep the screen safe from scratches and fingerprints.Like every Otterbox case, the Defender Series for iPad mini covers every port on the device, but allows for easy access to each of them. Every open port has a silicone case that covers it to keep out dust and moisture, though the speakers are left open. The Defender Series also comes with a shield that adds further protection to the screen beyond the polycarbonate protector. The shield also serves as a stand to make it easier to watch movies or read books when the device in on a table. The stand only appears works in landscape mode, however.
Otterbox designed the Defender Series iPad Mini on leaks that appeared in the weeks and months before the announcement. Because of that some of the images Otterbox has of the device have an opening for the mysterious hole in the top middle of the iPad mini's back. The final iPad mini design doesn't have that hole in the back.Potential iPad mini buyers can pre-order the Otterbox cases now or sign up for a notification when the cases go on sale. Otterbox doesn't have an estimated date for when the case will ship yet.The SGP GLAS.t screen protector is made with ultra-hard coated glass that helps prevent scratches from knives and keys.
Thanks to its oleophobic coating it resists finger prints and other oily residue. The SGP GLAS.t for the iPhone 5 is thicker than plastic and because it rises above the surface more than plastic screen protectors, hitting the Home button can be more different.Several Home button stickers are offered by SGP to avoid the awkward feel. The SGP GLAS.t protector uses a strong silicon adhesive to adhere to the iPhone screen. It is easy to apply and makes air bubbles easy to press out.The iPhone 5 GLAS.t premium tempered glass screen protector comes at a price of $27.99.The key to applying a screen protector sans bubbles is patience. It's also imperative that you apply the protector immediately after purchasing your device, as even hairline scratches will produce unavoidable bubbles.Remove the backing from the screen protector, and hold it along the edges. You may start from the top or bottom of your device, but a good rule of thumb is to start with the end that will require the most precise alignment. (For example, on the iPhone, it would be the home button.) Once you've aligned the protector, adhere it to the screen, following with the credit card to push out any bubbles.

The Cure for the Common Case: An iPhone 4S Case Round-Up

Despite what that recent line at your local Apple Store may have led you to believe, not all owners upgraded to the iPhone 5. There are many of us who are still content with our 4/4S models that simply didn't feel the need to cough up any additional dough for a new phone. Not when we can spend that money on swanky cases and other accessories. With that in mind I recently took a trio of specialty covers for the previous iPhone model for a test drive, and I found each to offer its own unique strengths. The Waterproof iPhone Case from Outdoor Technology, for example, boasts one very specific selling point – it truly is waterproof. It's a tight fit for your iPhone inside this shiny plastic shell, but its solid build did indeed prove waterproof (in my ridiculous sink-and-bathtub tests) thanks to a hefty inner sealing gasket coupled with three separate exterior lock points. Installing the case is a very deliberate process that takes some time, but for those instances when cheap Protective Case is a must it's a true lifesaver. Watertight up to one meter in depth for at least 30 minutes, this OT solution manages to keep your phone dry without sacrificing screen, camera or call functionality. Now, that's not to say your call clarity doesn't suffer a bit through all that shielding, so it's best if used in tandem with a Bluetooth headset if you're planning to chat it up on the high seas. It's also important to note that this case doesn't offer much in the way of drop protection, which can easily damage both the watertight seal and your precious iPhone.
For those in the market for true phone armor, the Ballistic Hard Core takes on reigning king Otterbox head-on. Designed with the same sort of multilevel protection – including a hardy plastic frame, a silicon outer sleeve and an integrated screen cover – as the stalwart Defender, the Hard Core even comes with a similar(ly atrocious) belt holster. This case is perfectly functional, protecting your iPhone while still iphone4 protective cases to all ports and buttons with or without the exterior silicon jacket in place. Sadly it's uniquely styled square Home button cover and scalloped outer edges don't detract from the fact that it's freakin' huge! It's not as if the case is that much bigger than similar models on the market, but the Hard Core really does swallow your diminutive iPhone in all these various levels of coverage. Of course if you're in the market for such high-impact protection it's likely that the trade-off of size for safety is acceptable. The only real downside other than the sheer girth of the case itself is its back-end camera lens cover; the thing captures mounds of dust and smudges that serve to wash out photographs.

The Week in iPhone Cases: In protection we trust

The launch of the iPhone 5 has brought a veritable avalanche of cases for Apple's latest mobile handset. As usual, your faithful Macworld staff is on, uh, the case with a roundup of the latest and greatest. The Zero 5 (iPhone 5; $20) is one of the thinnest iPhone cases available; at only 0.5mm thick, it is, in the words of the manufacturer, almost unnoticeable when installed. The iPhone 5 model of the case has been improved to provide additional protection and be more scratch-resistant than its predecessor. It's available in black, white, blue, or clear.
The Embrace (iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S; $89) is an aluminium bumper designed to protect your handset from bumps and scratches while accentuating its beautiful, glass-and-metal design instead of trying to cover it up. It comes with a compimentary backplate, available in black, carbon-fiber black, or titanium gray. The case itself can be purchased in a variety of exotic hues, including Kyoho Sauvignon, Champagne Blush, Phantom Gray, Space Gray, Peach Glamour, and Oyster Blue. The company's latest iPhone 5 offerings include the Axis Wallet (iPhone 5; $50), with its genuine-textured-leather construction, a convenient card slot, and wraparound construction with a front cover that doubles as a stand for viewing at multiple angles. It comes in black, white, or red. The Stealth (iPhone 5; $35) features a compartment that is normally hidden away and can be used to store an RFID-enabled card so that you can make quick purchases, enter the office, or get on the subway without having to dig into your wallet. It's available in white or black. Finally, if you like wallet cases but prefer your cards to be easily accessible, the Solo Wallet (iPhone 5; $40) comes with two pockets that can hold either cash or plastic; like the Axis, the Solo Wallet is made of genuine leather; it can be purchased in white, black, or red.
The company's iPhone vinyl skins (iPhone 5; $15) are now available in a size that matches Apple's latest mobile offering. Like before, there are literally dozens upon dozens of designs to choose from, in themes that go all the way from artsy to pop, and almost all with their own matching iPhone 5-sized wallpapers. The Bamboo Case (iPhone 5; $60) is a snap-on shell made entirely of one of the most environmentally-friendly protective materials available. The two-piece design fits your handset snuggly, and it's lined with soft velvet that helps protect it from bumps and scratches. The case also features the appropriate number of cutouts and openings to ensure unhindered access to all of the iPhone's ports and cameras.

Latest iPad mini leak reveals battery that's three times larger than iPhone 5′s

Apple (AAPL) is expected to announce its 7.85-inch iPad mini on October 23rd. With all of the component and case leaks, and even retail store arrangements, the smaller tablet is now much more than just a rumor and now MacRumors has photos of what is believed to be the iPad mini battery. Although MacRumors was unable to confirm its authenticity, the photos suggest the iPad mini will have a 16.7Whr battery that runs at 3.72 volts. If the part isn't a fake, the iPad mini's battery will fit perfectly between the iPhone 5′s 5.45Whr and the new iPad's massive 42.5Whr battery. It's also just slightly under the iPad 2′s 25Whr battery.
But China Battery Case suppliers life shouldn't take too much of a hit, if any, considering the fact that the iPad mini has a smaller screen and will likely have a processor that's optimized for more efficient power consumption. One of the iPad's many advantages over other tablets is its 10-hour battery. It would be foolish for Apple to sell what is essentially an iPad 2 with a smaller screen without a battery that lasts just as long. The first thing that surprised me about this comparison was that under my Verizon account, the iPhone 5 is the same price as the Samsung Galaxy S3. I was expecting the price to differ by at least $100.
When comparing the 4s, 5, and Galaxy s3 on Verizon's website, the major hardware difference I saw reported was the standby and usage time. The iPhone 5 has a reported standby time of 225 hours. The iPhone 4s reports as having 200 standby hours and the Galaxy S3 has a WOW factor of 400 hours. For usage time, both the iPhone 5 and 4s report back at having eight hours and the Galaxy s3 reportedly has fifteen hours! Wow…I don't expect that kind of battery life from any phone.I was definitely surprised to see that the iPhone 5 is lighter than the Galaxy s3. I've held my mom's Galaxy phone before and that sucker is pretty light.
It's because of this that I preach iPhone safety to all my friends and everyone I meet. I have seen way to many iphone4 4s battery charger bite the dust from a freak fall or spill. For example, a fellow coworker of mine bought an iPhone 4s recently and the first thing I told her was to buy an Otterbox. She said the case was too bulky (and expensive) and put it in a cheap silicone sleeve. The same day she got her iPhone, she dropped it and cracked the glass on the back. Lesson learned…It's for that very reason I never take mine out of its protective case. I'm terrified that I'll drop it and my precious will be gone forever.I wish I could put a memory stick in when I start to run out of space, but that is still a pipe dream with the iPhone. On the upside, it forces me to keep my phone clean of anything I don't absolutely need to have.

The Sealed Battery showstopper: Heroes and Villians

I've commented before at length (and quoted below) on the pros and cons of having sealed batteries in our smartphones, i.e. batteries which can only be removed or changed at your manufacturer's designated service centre. My stated bullet points are all very well, but I've now had direct experience in the last month that strongly leads me to declare having a sealed battery as a showstopper, for me personally, at least. Below is my tale of woe and a handy table of which smartphones are vulnerable to potential disaster in this way.One upon a time, all smartphones came with a battery that you could take out. Often to reset the phone if all went horribly wrong, sometimes because you have a second, charged battery ready to go on a long day out, most of all to perhaps replace the original after a year or so when it wasn't delivering enough charge anymore. All good reasons (and expanded and tabulated below), but then the world changed in 2007 with Apple's introduction of the first iPhone.
Coming in a sealed 'Apple knows best, only Apple is trusted to open this thing up' package, the iPhone created a growing tide of 'imitators' (some caught out in the courts, mainly for copying other iPhone aspects, as you'll know from the news), all of which tried to go down the same route..I'd say that the popularity [among manufacturers] of user-replaceable and sealed batteries are running at roughly 50:50 - so one particular way of doing things certainly hasn't won out... The split neatly reflects the balance of pros and cons for each design system when it comes to batteries:All important pros and cons, and you'll weight them yourself, according to your own preferences. But there's a possible elephant in the room here, for normal phone users at least. Us gadgeteers and power users will be swapping smartphones at least once or twice a year, either through contract upgrades or, more likely, by just buying a new phone, selling the old one and slotting our SIM in as needed.
But more average phone users may well be locked into a 18 month or 24 month contract, or they may simply not have the finances to keep buying/upgrading. And there's every chance that the sealed battery in their smartphone may well be down to 50% or 60% of original capacity after 18 months. At which point it's appropriate to share a few tales of my own from just the last 12 months. Bear in mind that I've got 20 years of experience in the PDA and smartphone world and that I've been through (at last count) 164 different main phones/organisers in that time (including a fair number of review devices, obviously), so I'm speaking as the voice of someone who's 'been there done that', etc.

Motorola confirms death of Webtop, laptop accessories

Motorola Mobility's Webtop concept, which enabled its phones to act as the brains of a laptop or television entertainment hub, has quietly been killed off, the company confirmed to CNET today.Webtop was software that allowed a Motorola smartphone, such as the Atrix 4G for AT&T, to be docked into a special laptop accessory and run with some computer functionality such as the browser. When it was unveiled, many had called it the future of mobile computing.Unfortunately, the execution wasn't so smooth and sales were disappointing. Motorola, a unit of Google, said today that adoption wasn't strong enough to justify devoting more resources to the project. Webtop will no longer appear on phones, starting with the Photon Q, Droid Razr M, Droid Razr HD, and power bank 6600mah. In addition, Motorola said that Webtop would increasingly be redundant as the Android operating system began to include more desktoplike features.
Phonenews.com had last month reported that Motorola was killing off Webtop at Google's behest, citing unnamed sources. The laptop dock was a key standout feature when Motorola unveiled its flagship Atrix 4G smartphone at the Consumer Electronics Show in 2011. It helped the company differentiate its products from the sea of other Android phones that debuted at the show. The idea was a critical hit, and some, including CNET's Jason Hiner, believed it was a potential weapon Android could use to bridge the gap between the PC and mobile worlds. When it was about to launch, samsung battery cover and AT&T executives talked about the potential the device had to run in the office, and replace the need for a laptop for road warriors.
But its initial momentum was halted when AT&T and Motorola priced the phone and laptop dock for $500, an eyebrow-raising price tag that had many pausing and reconsidering the potential of such a device. While later devices continued to run with Webtop and their own laptop dock accessory, the excitement had largely disappeared. In addition, the early version was slow and didn't offer the greatest experience, though Motorola would later improve the software. Prior to the takeover, Webtop was one of former CEO Sanjay Jha's favorite projects to talk about.Motorola, now under CEO Dennis Woodside, instead will focus on a few core principles, including better battery life, a focus on LTE, and ensuring the latest updates to Android with its newer smartphones. The company has been aggressively cutting costs, and Webtop is just the latest casualty.

IPhone 5 journal: Torture testing the battery

Reviewer Rob Pegoraro is putting the new iPhone 5 through its paces and keeping a running journal of his impressions. Have any questions about the phone? Leave us a comment about what you'd like to see Rob tackle in future updates.People talk about a phone's battery life as if it were a single measurement, but it's more accurate to speak of battery lives. Apple's own estimates for the iPhone 5 reflect that complexity, covering such use cases as talk time (8 hours), standby time (225 hours), Internet use (8 hours on 3G or 4G LTE, 10 hours on WiFi) and audio and video playback (40 and 10 hours, respectively). And just in case, Apple (AAPL, Fortune 500) qualifies all these figures with the magic exculpatory description "up to."
To get a worst-case estimate, I set the Pandora (P) app to play Web radio nonstop, then disable the phone screen's auto-lock option to keep the display lit. For a best-case data point, I'll leave the phone on a desk with the screen off, mobile broadband active and Bluetooth and WiFi powered up but not linked to anything; 24 hours later, I'll check its battery status. I don't look at talk time, because we increasingly use smartphones for things other than calling.By those metrics, the iPhone 5 is terrific -- but not by a huge margin. In the Web-radio test, it lasted 7 hours and 44 minutes; in the second, its onscreen battery gauge read 85% after 24 hours idling away. Each figure beats any Android phone I've tested on an LTE signal, although some 3G models have done better.
I'm used having to recharge so many of these lesser devices by noon at busy tech events. The iPhone 5 pushes that "where can I plug in?" moment into the night -- an advance power users will welcome. I used mine at the Online News Association's conference in San Francisco last weekend, which may not have been CES or SXSW but still had me spending an inordinate amount of time on my phone. And after 10 hours Saturday spent checking e-mail, tweeting, reading on the Web and looking up directions a few times, the iPhone 5 still had a 32% charge by that evening. It took another three hours for it to fall below 10%. That's seriously good. But on Sunday, three hours online, five hours of airplane mode on the flight back to D.C. and a couple of quick "tethering" sessions sharing the iPhone 5's LTE with my laptop combined to drive the battery down to 52 percent. As much as the iPhone 5 advances smartphone battery life, in one aspect it only matches competitors: You'd still be wise to bring a cable and a charger if you're going to spend a long day with this thing. Get More Memory And Better Battery Life For Your iPhone 5 With The iExpander

The iExpander Kickstarter project aims to improve upon the design of the iPhone 4, 4S, and 5, adding important features that founder Charlie Corry thought the phone was lacking, including better low light images, expandable memory, and more battery power. To improve the phone, Corry and his team created a multi-function iPhone expansion device that was incorporated into a compact case, which has been updated for the new iPhone 5.The case has a wide range of features. To enhance Apple's camera, Corry added several LEDs to the external battery, which brightened the flash, improving the quality of low light pictures. To improve the memory of the iPhone, the iExpander comes with a Micro SD slot. You can use any Micro SD card up to 64GB, and transfer photos, videos, and documents between the iPhone and the iExpander, freeing up precious space.
Though the iPhone has always had an excellent battery life, extra battery power never hurts. The iExpander has a lithium polymer battery, giving you double the battery life on your iPhone. The iExpander is not an ultra thin case, but it is thinner than other, similar battery expansion cases like the Mophie Juice Pack. It clocks in at 6.3mm, but that's impressive for all of the features that it adds. Made of a graphite reinforced nylon, the cheap Battery Case is guaranteed to be strong and flexible. For iPhone 5 users, the iExpander has been designed with a built in Lightning to 30-pin adapter, meaning that while in the case, your phone will work with all of your old accessories, plugs, cords, and chargers, which is a nice edition.
The iExpander is an external hard drive and additional battery pack for the iPhone, which makes it extremely useful if you like to have access to plenty of music and videos on your phone. Not only will you have the additional storage space, you'll also have the extended battery life to enjoy all of your extra content. This is a solid idea, in my opinion, and if you agree, you can back the Kickstarter project and sign up to get your very own iExpander, in black or white, for just $70. Check out the video below for more information. Thanks to AppAdvice reader Chris for the tip on this great product!Since the iPhone 5 finally landed in the hands of excited customers on Friday, there have been numerous reports of a "rattle"or ‘thud"coming from inside new phones. What is the weird sound in these online videos?

Everpurse iPhone Charger Juices Your Phone in The Comfort of Your Purse

Pretty much anyone who has an iPhone knows that it uses up quite a bit of power. If I'm away from home for most of the day, I absolutely need a juice up. These days, I've got a cheap iPhone battery case that does the trick. Everpurse is a more stylish option, with more power but it's still an external battery.Everpurse is a small case that has a special pocket into which your iPhone automatically "slides" and hooks itself up to a dock connector. There's a patent involved, so I'm guessing that this is a pretty unique docking process. Once you've done this, your phone starts juicing up. Apparently the battery is enough to charge your iPhone from 0% to 100% twice in one day, so probably something like 3,000 to 5,000 mAh.
Once you get home, you just have to place your Everpurse onto a charging mat. The clutch itself will charge inductively, but it won't charge your iPhone inductively. It was launched as a Kickstarter campaign and you'll have to pledge $129 (USD) to get yours. At the time of writing, the project had amassed $127,000, blowing past its $100,000 goal with 25 days left, so it will definitely be produced.IPhone 5 also has a speedy new Apple-designed A6 chip that makes the device even more responsive than before, up to twice as fast as the A5 chip on the 4S, Apple says.
What's more, the handset easily lives up to Apple's marketing spiel as the "biggest thing to happen to iPhone since iPhone." Apple means it literally. For the first time since the original smartphone came to market in 2007, the iPhone gets a display larger than 3.5-inches. The new screen, 4-inches diagonally, exploits the stunning Retina display technology that first showed up on the iPhone 4.Apple manages to produce the larger screen without penalizing the consumer with a bulky design or poor battery life. The new iPhone is just a shade taller than earlier models but with a width the same as the 4S. And it is 18 percent thinner and 20 percent lighter than its immediate predecessor.
The move to 4 inches feels right for the iPhone, though it looks like a dwarf side-by-side with the 4.8-inch display on the Samsung Galaxy S III, arguably the best of the Android breed. I was able to display more than four extra paragraphs reading the same newspaper article on the Samsung as opposed to the iPhone 5. On the other hand, the iPhone screen appears sharper and brighter, and the phone is easier to carry.

US Trade Judge Rules in Favour of Apple Regarding Samsung Patents Case

According to a judge, Apple Inc. did not in any way violate patents owned by Samsung Electronics in producing the company's popular iPod Touch, iPad and iPhone. The statement was issued in a preliminary ruling at the International Trade Commission held on Friday. The dispute between the two major electronics companies have reached extreme proportions with either of them dragging the other to court in some 10 countries over patent rights. Both Samsung Electronics and Apple Inc. are rivals; out to grab the maximum share of the large scale and ever-expanding mobile industry. Apple Inc. was benefitted by a landmark win just last month following the findings of a US jury that Samsung Electronics, the South Korean corporation, had copied some specifications of the Apple Inc. iPhone and had awarded Apple Inc. with damage charges amounting to $1.05 billion.
James Gildea, an ITC judge, claimed on Friday that Apple Inc. had in no way violated the four different patents connected to the cheap iphone4s battery case. Samsung had earlier laid blame on Apple Inc. for infringement in a complaint which was filed in the middle of the year 2011. It had demanded that the infringing manufactured electronics be banned from being sold within the United States. The ITC judge had covered all these facts while making the case. The entire commission is slated to reach a positive outcome – whether to overturn or uphold the decision of the internal judge – by the month of January.
Samsung Electronics issued a statement claiming that the company retains faith in the fact that the total Commission will come to an ultimate determination that verifies their position that Apple Inc. needs to be held liable for free-riding on their technological innovations. Apple Inc. did not wish to comment any further on the matter. The patents mentioned in the complaint are connected to 3G wireless features, the formats of Wall Charger Wholesalers meant for high-speed transmission and combining functions such as web browsing with the functions of a mobile smartphone.
At the ITC, a similar complaint against Samsung Electronics had been filed by Apple Inc. blaming the former, an important chip provide for Apple as well as an international rival, of transparently copying its iPads and iPhones. The preliminary decision of the ITC judge is due to come out in December.Samsung Electronics happened to be the best selling mobile phone manufacturer in the second quarter of this year, with Apple Inc. bagging the third spot, as stated in the data derived from Gartner Inc.

My iPhone needs a case, Jerry Seinfeld

On an episode of his Web series Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee, Jerry Seinfeld mocks his friend Joel Hodgson for putting his iPhone in a case. "Why don't you walk around with a helmet on, too?" Jerry needles. "Why don't you get yourself a big styrofoam helmet?" The implication seems to be that relying on a case to protect your iPhone is a sign of weakness; if you don't live in a bubble, your precious smartphone shouldn't either. My reaction to Jerry's case-aversion: What is the deal with that? (And I'm not the only one questioning Jerry's perspective; the folks at iLounge take issue with his argument, too.)As part of my job at Macworld, I test a lot of iPhone cases. I specialize in rugged cases and those that provide extra battery power. I'll freely admit that, before I started doing that testing, I regularly toted my iPhone around as naked as both it and I were on the days we were born.
Battery cases can be a huge boon to folks who use the heck out of their iPhones. For me—between testing apps for Macworld, getting push notifications, using location services, yada yada yada—my battery-level regularly runs down to 30 percent or less by early afternoon. A battery case might leave my iPhone feeling thick and heavy in my man hands, but it also means I can avoid the dreaded 20- or 10-percent messages of doom. I use the WorkMate case on days I expect the iPhone will be more susceptible than usual to rough treatment. Even in my own home, I'm not really master of my domain. I have three young kids, including an iPhone-obsessed 18-month-old. He can swipe to unlock, swipe to the right screen, and tap on the Duck Duck Moose game of his choosing with ease. But sometimes, when he's all done with the iPhone, he also likes to toss it across the room with all of his 18-month-old might. My iPhone's real, and it's spectacular, and I don't want my kid's rough handling to smash its glass.
Remember the iPhone 4 antenna kerfuffle—the signal attenuation problem that cropped up when you held the phone wrong (i.e. along its naked metal edge)? At the press conference that followed—the one at which Apple offered free cases (which obviated the problem) to anyone who bought that phone—Daring Fireball's John Gruber asked Steve Jobs and other Apple executives present whether they personally equipped their phones with protective rubber bumpers. I understand that preference. Truth be told, I wish I could look at my iPhone and declare, "No case for you!" When you keep your iPhone in a case for days or weeks at a time and then take it out, it's a revelation: The nude iPhone is absurdly slim, fits the hand brilliantly, feels delightfully light, and provides wonderfully unobstructed access to the screen and controls. Any case that provides any protection makes the iPhone a little less awesome to use.

The New York Hong Kong Case Is My Favorite iPad Case So Far, And It's Cheap

The last of these was just a joke, but the New York Hong Kong (NYHK) cases includes it and everything else on the list. In fact, if not for one important niggle (which is the fault of the iPad 3 itself), then the NYHK could be just about the best slimline folio case I have yet tried. There are two NYHK models, the Shield and the Folio Shield. The former has a rear cover and foldable, Smart Cover style lid. The latter (the one I tested) adds an integral stand. It does this by continuing to unfold once it reaches the spine, allowing the left edge to swing free so you can prop it up thusly:The case is made from a plastic dish to hold the cheap iphone4s battery case and a leather and microfiber wraparound to form the case itself. And if that sounds like a recipe for a thick and heavy case, get ready to be surprised.
This case is light. As in, 227 grams light, or just eight ounces. This is the same weight as many shell-and-cover only cases I have tested (yes, I weight them all), and comparable to Apple's Smart Case. And yet it is made of leather, and includes an extra layer of material to make its built-in stand possible.Speaking of leather, the NYHK case has the same quality feel as the Apple leather Smart Cover, and creases handsomely over time. Inside is microfiber to keep the iPad's screen clean, and both the leather and lining have a rather cool-looking pattern of streets embossed into them. The Lady, however, isn't impressed by the patterns. Then we come to the stand, which lets you prop the case up to any angle in landscape mode, and also folds up like the Smart Cover to make a typing stand.
It works very well, and the Wall Charger Wholesalers of the lining acts as a base, which grips well onto the microfiber-covered edge of the main case, stopping almost all slippage. The wedge-shaped fold is a little too springy for the embedded magnets to keep it closed, but then again you will always have the weight of the iPad on top.The bad points here are not really bad at all. The plastic shell which cossets the iPad is super-thin, but manages to grip the iPad like an alcoholic holds onto his bottle. Better, actually, as it doesn't have shaky hands. This also means that it is almost impossible to get the iPad 3 out without breaking a nail.
The iPad 2 is a slightly easier bet, but it's still not coming out unless you really, really want it to.The other bad point is — as I said earlier — the fault of the iPad 3. It's just too hot. My iPad is warm most of the time, partly because I live in a country where it's always hot, but also because the iPad 3 runs very warm. Putting it in a tight case with two layers of material on the back, and then watching a movie is a recipe for, well, for a well-cooked iPad. I figure that this problem will disappear in the winter, and is already non-existent with the iPad 2, so you should consider this before you buy.
